Molly & Dolly: inspired by Niki de Saint Phalle
Molly & Dolly are modern, colourful art statues of strong, free women. They are made of resin and then hand-painted in cheerful, colourful patterns — making every statue unique. The collection is inspired by the work of French artist Niki de Saint Phalle; artist Mia Coppola designed these new versions, giving Niki de Saint Phalle’s playful, colourful signature style a contemporary twist.
Who was Niki de Saint Phalle?
Niki de Saint Phalle (1930-2002) was a French-American artist, sculptor and filmmaker. She became world-famous for her “Nanas”: large, colourful, generously-shaped female figures celebrating strength, freedom and femininity. She was a founding member of the Nouveau Réalisme art movement and worked closely with her husband, artist Jean Tinguely. One of her most famous works is the Tarot Garden (Giardino dei Tarocchi), a sculpture garden in Tuscany, Italy, full of mosaics and bold colours. Molly & Dolly build on that tradition of colourful, powerful female figures, translated into a compact collection for your home.
