Lightly flying feathers flutter in the wind. When they gather on the elephant, they somehow gather strength as if to protect it and keep it warm. Just like our emotion is constantly influenced by all kinds of factors around us, until it finally turns into strength and immunity to protect us.
Plants form the natural habitat of animals. Some parts of the jungle remain untouched and therefore they become a little piece of paradise filled with beautiful plants and wonderful creatures.
Kiku is based off one of my paintings which was inspired by an antique kimono fabric I bought in Japan. One of the things I love about kimono fabrics is the rich colours, decorative embellishments and dramatic layout of patterns. I also added butterflies as they symbolise hope and freedom. It’s my way of wishing for elephants to be able to live in a safe and protected environment.
