Pomegranates are extremely nutritious and believed to be an auspicious fruit in the Thai culture. I also see some of the same qualities in elephants, Thailand’s national animal. Elephants have been around for centuries and are highly revered as sacred animals. Therefore, I think using pomegranates as an element in the statue is fitting.
