Herman Brood Herman Brood (1946, Zwolle – 2001) — Dutch rock artist, painter and pop art icon Brood worked with spray cans, syringes, markers and paint rollers at high speed, resulting in energetic, cartoon-like figures on bold colour fields. As a colour-blind artist, he reached for primary colours — red, blue and yellow — with the word “brood” always appearing as his signature within the work.
