Rodin was fascinated by the expressiveness and symbolism of hands. For example, in his famous sculpture ‘The Cathedral’ the hands reflect the majestic Gothic architectural style. These two graceful hands form a preliminary study for “The Secret”, a marble sculpture in which two right hands clasp an abstract, rectangular “secret”.
