Juliarte is a Portuguese family business founded in 1978 by Julio and Francelina Leitao in Agueda, a city in central Portugal. What started as a small decoration workshop grew into one of the best-known producers of contemporary decorative sculptures on the European market. Yes, the sculptures are designed and produced by Juliarte themselves in Portugal. They are not replicas of works by other artists, but original designs by the Juliarte design team. They are, however, series-produced — each model is made in editions, not as a unique piece.
Prices range from €79 for a compact cat sculpture from the BAILA or SILENCE series to €179 for a large balloon dog or bulldog. The majority of the range falls between €79 and €129.
The Balloon Dog collection is the most popular, particularly the Diamond and Rose versions. These sculptures are recognisable, decorative and suit many interiors. For a smaller budget, a BAILA cat sculpture is a frequently chosen alternative.
