Twinkle, twinkle, little star – six suns make my day is the title of the Miffy statue by Rik van Iersel. ‘Twinkle, twinkle is one of the oldest and most famous children’s songs worldwide. Everywhere you go you hear this song as an icon of recognition and as a symbol of positivism. You can apply the same power and value to Miffy. To me it seemed like a very appropriate thing to do to unite these two. Furthermore, it is Miffy’s birthday and she deserves to have six suns around her. Because I also borrowed the colour schemes from Picasso and Le Corbusier, multiple icons became one in my statue – ready for a big party!’
