Le Jardin de Monet, les Iris (1900)
In 1883, Monet rented a country house in Giverny, a small town between Paris and Rouen. He found it so beautiful that he later bought it and lived there for the rest of his life. He worked with great care on his garden, which he called his greatest masterpiece. He had his famous “Japanese pond with water lilies” created there, and planted weeping willows and countless irises.
